About Dr. Herrera
Oscarina Herrera, MD, has served as a clinical trial Sub-Investigator at West Orange Endocrinology since 2019, working under Dr. Mandry across the practice's diabetes, obesity and kidney disease studies.
She is a board-certified internist with more than a decade of outpatient primary care practice in the Orlando area, much of it caring for older adults and focused on prevention and the long-term management of chronic conditions. She has held medical director roles alongside her clinical work.
Her research career began before her residency: she coordinated cardiovascular trials at the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital, including the ROCKET atrial fibrillation trial later published in the New England Journal of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, an affiliate of Weill Medical College of Cornell University, and earned her medical degree at the University of Zulia in Venezuela.
